Moving and organizing apps on your Moto G Play is a straightforward process, allowing you to personalize your home screen for quick access and better organization. You can easily move apps from your Apps tray to the home screen, rearrange them, or create folders.

Moving Apps to Your Home Screen

To bring an app from your device's complete list of applications to your primary viewing area:

  1. Access the Apps Tray: From your home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the display. This action will open the Apps tray, showing all installed applications.
  2. Select an App: Browse through your apps to find the one you wish to move.
  3. Drag to Home Screen:
    • Tap and hold the desired app icon.
    • While holding, drag the app icon towards the bottom of the screen. This will typically take you back to your home screen pages.
    • Continue dragging the app to the exact location you want it on any available home screen page.
    • Release your finger to place the app.

Organizing Apps on the Home Screen

Once apps are on your home screen, you have several options for organization:

  • Rearranging Icons:
    1. Tap and hold the app icon you wish to move on the home screen.
    2. Drag it to a new position on the current home screen page.
    3. Release your finger to set its new location.
  • Moving Between Home Screen Pages:
    1. Tap and hold an app icon.
    2. Drag it to the edge of the current home screen page.
    3. Hold it there for a moment, and the screen will scroll to the next available home screen page.
    4. Continue dragging to the desired page and position, then release.
  • Creating Folders:
    1. Tap and hold an app icon on the home screen.
    2. Drag this app icon directly on top of another app icon you want to group it with.
    3. Release your finger, and a new folder will be created containing both apps.
    4. You can then tap on the folder to open it and drag more apps into it, or tap the folder name to rename it.

Removing Apps from the Home Screen

If you want to remove an app shortcut from your home screen without uninstalling the app from your device:

  1. Select the App: Tap and hold the desired app icon on your home screen.
  2. Drag to Remove: While holding the app, drag it towards the top of the screen. You will typically see an option labeled "Remove" (or a trash can icon) appear at the top.
  3. Release: Drag the app onto the "Remove" option and release your finger. The app shortcut will be removed from your home screen, but the app will remain installed in your Apps tray.

By utilizing these methods, you can customize your Moto G Play's home screen layout to enhance efficiency and personal preference.
