Upon awakening, Punpun discovers Aiko's body, having found that she has tragically taken her own life. This devastating discovery marks a pivotal and traumatic moment in the narrative, profoundly impacting Punpun.
Following this horrific event, Punpun's life takes a significant and dark turn. Overwhelmed by grief and despair, he wanders aimlessly for a period, struggling to cope with the immense emotional weight of Aiko's death. His aimless journey eventually leads him to a highly recognizable and symbolic location from his childhood. In a desperate attempt to escape his pain and end his suffering, Punpun makes a tragic choice and stabs himself, seeking to end his own life. However, his suicide attempt is ultimately unsuccessful. He is subsequently found and saved by Sachi, his former girlfriend, whose intervention leads to the conclusion of the Oyasumi Punpun story.
