After his growing interest in a music career, Jimmy Buffett continued his education and gathered the necessary credits to enroll at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. He successfully completed his studies, graduating in 1969 with a degree in history. The year of his graduation was also when he married his girlfriend, Margie Washichek.
