What Happens if You Fail Epic Assessment?

Published in Epic Training 2 mins read

If you fail an Epic assessment, you are typically granted multiple opportunities to retake it. However, repeated failures will necessitate a return to the foundational training course.

Understanding the Epic Assessment Retake Policy

Failing an Epic assessment isn't the end of the road. Training programs are designed to ensure users achieve proficiency with the Epic system, and retake policies are put in place to support this learning process.

Immediate Retake Opportunities

Upon an initial failed attempt, you will generally have the chance to retake the assessment without immediately having to repeat the entire course.

  • You can attempt to take the assessment up to twice per day. This allows for immediate re-evaluation after reviewing areas where you might have struggled.

Consequences of Repeated Failures

While immediate retakes are available, there's a limit to how many times you can fail before more extensive remediation is required.

  • After three failed attempts, you will be required to go through the class again. This ensures that you receive comprehensive instruction to build the necessary understanding and skills before attempting the assessment once more.

The process can be summarized as follows:

Attempt Outcome Next Step
1st Fail Retake assessment (up to twice per day)
2nd Fail Retake assessment (up to twice per day)
3rd Fail Required to retake the entire training class

This structured approach ensures that all users acquire the necessary knowledge to effectively utilize the Epic system, whether it's for clinical documentation, patient scheduling, billing, or other critical functions.
