Cortisol face, also known as moon face or moon facies, is a distinctive medical condition characterized by a noticeable rounding of the face due to the buildup of fat deposits.
This particular facial appearance often results in the following characteristics:
- The face appears significantly rounder than usual, specifically due to fat accumulation in the sides of the skull.
- In some cases, the face can become so round that the ears are no longer visible when viewed from the front.
The most common cause of cortisol face is the long-term use of steroid medications, such as prednisone.
