How to Use Split Screen (Double Screen) on Poco Phones

Published in Poco Split Screen 4 mins read

Poco phones, like many modern Android devices, feature a "split screen" mode that allows you to run and view two applications simultaneously on your display. While often referred to as "double screen," this functionality specifically means dividing your screen into two distinct sections, each operating an individual app. This is an excellent way to enhance your multitasking capabilities and boost productivity.

How to Activate Split Screen Mode on Poco Devices

Activating split screen on your Poco phone is a straightforward process, primarily utilizing the recent apps menu.

  • Step 1: Open Your First Application
    • Launch the first app you intend to use in split screen mode. Once it's running, you can either leave it open or return to your home screen.
  • Step 2: Access Recent Apps
    • Navigate to your recent apps view. You can typically do this by:
      • Swiping up from the bottom of the screen and holding (if using gesture navigation).
      • Tapping the recent apps button (usually a square icon) on your navigation bar.
  • Step 3: Select the First App for Split Screen
    • In the recent apps interface, long-press on the app card of the first application you wish to place in split screen.
    • A set of options will appear; tap the split-screen icon. This icon often looks like two rectangles stacked vertically or horizontally. The chosen app will then move to the top or side of your screen, occupying half of the display.
  • Step 4: Choose Your Second Application
    • With the first app now positioned in split-screen mode, you can select a second application from your background (recent apps). Simply tap on the desired second app's card from the remaining recent apps. Alternatively, you can open a new app from your app drawer or home screen.
    • The second application will immediately launch in the remaining half of the screen. You are now in split-screen mode and can use two apps at the same time.

Using Applications in Split Screen

Once split screen is active, you have full control over both applications:

  • Resizing Windows: A movable divider line will appear between the two apps. You can drag this divider up or down (or left/right in landscape mode) to adjust how much screen space each application occupies.
  • Exiting Split Screen: To exit the mode, simply drag the divider line all the way to the top or bottom of your screen. This action will maximize one app and close the other from the split-screen view. Pressing the home button will usually send both split-screen apps to the background, but they remain active.
  • Swapping Apps: Depending on your Poco's MIUI version, you might have an option to swap the positions of the two apps, or replace one of them by accessing the recent apps menu for that specific window.

Benefits of Using Split Screen

Utilizing the split-screen feature offers several advantages for enhancing your mobile experience:

  • Enhanced Multitasking: Easily perform tasks such as watching a video while chatting, browsing the web while referencing an email, or taking notes during a video call.
  • Improved Efficiency: Quickly refer to information from one app without the need to constantly switch back and forth, saving time and effort.
  • Better Productivity: Streamline workflows for various tasks, such as copying text or images between documents or applications.

Tips for Optimizing Your Split Screen Experience

  • Landscape Orientation: For a more comfortable viewing and interaction experience, especially with certain types of content (like videos or long articles), consider rotating your phone to landscape mode while in split screen.
  • App Compatibility: Most modern Android applications are designed to support split screen. However, some older or highly specialized apps might not function perfectly or might not be resizable.
  • Performance Considerations: Running two applications simultaneously requires more system resources. If you notice any lag or slowdown, consider closing other background apps to free up memory.
