Mesquite High School, in its earliest form, was established in 1902.
The foundation for providing educational services in Mesquite, Texas, was laid with the incorporation of the Mesquite Independent School District in March 1901. This action was prompted by the citizens of Mesquite who sought to address the primary and secondary educational needs of the growing city.
Following the district's formation, the first school was opened in 1902 at the location that is now the current site of Mesquite High School. This initial establishment served approximately 200 students, marking the beginning of what would evolve into the modern Mesquite High School.
