How to Initiate The Whispering Door Quest
Once the prerequisites are met, follow these steps to start the quest:
- Visit the Bannered Mare in Whiterun: Head to the primary tavern located in the city of Whiterun.
- Gather Rumors from the Barkeep: Speak to Hulda, the barkeep at the Bannered Mare. Choose the dialogue option that allows you to "Gossip" or "Hear any rumors lately?". Continue engaging with her until she mentions a rumor concerning the Jarl's children.
- Speak to the Jarl of Whiterun: After hearing the rumor from the barkeep, make your way to Dragonsreach, the Jarl's palace in Whiterun. Locate Jarl Balgruuf.
- Inquire About His Children: Engage Jarl Balgruuf in conversation. A new dialogue option should now be available, allowing you to ask him about his children's unusual behavior or any issues he might be having with them. Selecting this option will officially begin The Whispering Door quest.
