How to Unhide a Post

Published in Social Media Management 2 mins read

To unhide a post and make it visible again in your feed, you'll typically interact with an options menu associated with the post, often found by clicking or tapping a specific icon.

Understanding Hidden Posts

Posts can be hidden for various reasons, such as a user intentionally removing them from their feed without deleting them, or platform algorithms temporarily deeming content less relevant. Unhiding a post reverses this action, allowing it to reappear in your News Feed or on your profile for you and others to see, depending on its original privacy settings.

Steps to Unhide a Post

The process for unhiding a post is similar across most platforms, primarily involving locating an options menu.

On Desktop or Web Browsers

When accessing a social media platform through a web browser on a computer:

  1. Locate the Hidden Post: Navigate to where the post might be, such as your profile's activity log, a specific timeline, or a search result.
  2. Find the Options Icon: On the post, look for a three dots (…) icon or an arrow icon. This is usually positioned in the top-right corner of the post.
  3. Open the Menu: Click on this icon to reveal a dropdown menu.
  4. Select Unhide Option: From the menu that appears, choose the option that says "Unhide post" or "Show in News Feed."

On Mobile Devices

If you're using a social media app on a smartphone or tablet:

  1. Access the Post: Tap on the post to open it fully. Sometimes, you might be able to find the options icon directly from your feed without opening the post completely.
  2. Identify the Menu Icon: Look for a three dots (…) icon or an arrow icon, typically located in the top-right corner of the post once it's opened.
  3. Tap to Reveal Options: Tap on this icon to bring up a menu of actions.
  4. Choose to Unhide: Select the option titled "Unhide post" or "Show in News Feed" to restore its visibility.

After you select the unhide option, the post should reappear in your feed or on your profile, effectively reversing the hidden status.
