Actress Bonnie Morgan was reportedly very close to being cast in the iconic role of Topanga Lawrence. However, according to Morgan, she ultimately did not secure the part. She has stated that the show's director, David Trainer, conveyed that he did not believe she was "pretty enough" for the character. The role subsequently went to Danielle Fishel, who became synonymous with Topanga throughout the show's successful run from 1993 to 2000 and later reprised the role in the sequel series, Girl Meets World.
