Transition to So Random!
Following Lovato's departure, instead of producing a third season of Sonny with a Chance, Disney Channel opted to re-tool the series. The show transitioned into a spin-off titled So Random!, which premiered in June 2011. This new format shifted its focus entirely to the sketch comedy show within a show, allowing the remaining cast members to continue without the character of Sonny Munroe. So Random! ran for one season before concluding.
