How Tall Is Mega Gargant Lore?

Published in Warhammer Lore 2 mins read

In the lore of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Mega Gargants are colossal beings that significantly exceed the size of typical gargants, often standing hundreds of feet tall. These titanic creatures represent the largest and most destructive variants of their kind, towering over battlefields and even small settlements.

The Growth of Gargants

The lineage of gargants has seen a steady increase in size over generations. Initially, gargants were perhaps not as immense, but through their god Behemat's influence and their own natural tendencies, they have grown progressively larger. As the generations continued, "the gargants started to grow, not quickly, but each generation became more imposing than the last, with some of the youngest generation topping out at over one hundred feet tall." This refers to the general "Gargant" or "Mancrusher Gargant" class, which are formidable in their own right.

Mega Gargants: True Colossi

Mega Gargants, however, are a distinct and far more immense category. While smaller gargants might reach over 100 feet, Mega Gargants are significantly larger, with common lore descriptions placing them at 200 to 300 feet tall, or even more for truly ancient or powerful individuals like King Brodd, who is depicted as being as tall as the walls of major cities.

These towering behemoths are not merely larger versions of their kin; they possess unique physical attributes and distinct combat roles:

  • Kraken-Eaters: Known for their insatiable hunger, these Mega Gargants are often found near coastlines, hunting colossal sea creatures. Their immense strength allows them to tear apart ships and aquatic beasts.
  • Gatebreakers: These giants specialize in demolishing fortifications. Their powerful blows can shatter castle walls and reduce fortresses to rubble, making them siege engines in living form.
  • Warstompers: True front-line brawlers, Warstompers are designed for direct combat. They wade into enemy formations, trampling foes underfoot and crushing them with their mighty fists.
Gargant Type Typical Height (Lore Estimate) Key Characteristics
Standard/Mancrusher Over 100 feet General, common gargant, often seen in smaller groups
Mega Gargant 200-300+ feet Enormous, specialized, highly destructive behemoths

The sheer scale of a Mega Gargant makes it a formidable force on the battlefield, capable of tearing down structures, swatting aside entire units, and dominating the landscape. Their immense stature is a testament to the raw power and destructive potential of the Sons of Behemat.
